On October second, we got our first big snow of the season. It came very quickly and with little notice.
We had been in Buena Vista, which had a coating in the high mountains, but not much else. Once we reached Leadville on our way home, it was a very different story. Leadville was a winter wonderland. And we knew that meant our home would be as well.
Excitement filled the Jeep. Also apprehension, because driving in this snow storm was a little scary; slick roads, patches of ice and low visibility. And because this is the first autumn we’ve experienced living in the high mountains. We were not expecting this much snow so early.
This is just a photo post. I don’t have many words that can express how gorgeous the landscape has become. You can only say beautiful, glorious, magnificent, perfect and amazing so many times, right? So here it is! Our first big snow. October 2nd!
The following morning, we wandered into our tiny town, after waking up to even more snow. It was stunning. Our hiking trail was bent bows of aspen and so much snow. The couple shops in town looked like they were straight out of a movie; some unreal place where winter magic coats the world in comfort and joy.
I’m really looking forward to winter.
